WHY: To raise money for the Beautiful Day Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the under-served community of women under the age of 35 who are diagnosed with breast cancer

Last year we raised over $1,200.00 and this year we hope to repeat & even surpass last year’s success!

In addition to performances, there will also be a raffle throughout the show where many prizes will be awarded to the lucky winners!

PRICE: Tickets are $3 and any donations are welcome. Proceeds will go directly to the Beautiful Day Foundation.

HELLO!

My name is Kathleen Pera and I’m the Third Vice-President/Co-Fundraising Chair of the sorority Theta Kappa Phi of UCLA.

Every year, Theta Kappa Phi holds a dance competition called “Battle of the Pledge Dances” in which different pledges from different fraternities and sororities showcase their dancing skills in a competition.

My organization would like to formally invite your group to be one of the competitors this year, on our 11th Annual Battle of the Pledge Dances, which will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2007 from 5pm-9pm! Battle is important to us because it is not only a fundraiser but it is our philanthropy–our earnings go towards the Revlon Run-Walk For Women (Saturday, May 10, 2008), which supports organizations, and programs that research the cause and cure of women’s cancers.

It would mean a great deal to us if your organization could make the time to perform and support our cause! About 300 people will be there in the Ackerman Grand Ballroom @ UCLA! Please consider this event to place on your activities calendar! Thank you!

The rules of the competition are as follows:
I. The competition is open to any pledge class, past or present (That means if you had a fall class that crossed before the date of Battle, they can still compete).
II. If there are 5 or fewer members from one pledge class, there is the option of combining with the entire fraternity or sorority of whom they are pledging for.
III. If there are 6 or more participants (not pertaining to the option stated above), each participant must be from the same pledge class.
IV. Each pledge class must attempt and perform their ORIGINAL pledge dance to the best of their ability. New moves can be incorporated if transitions are being done (for the combined pledge class dancers) OR if some parts of the pledge dance cannot be remembered.
